A beautiful beard starts with healthy skin
Neglecting beard care leads to itching, irritation, dandruff and dull hair. Proper daily maintenance is essential for an impeccable look — and doesn't require much time.
The essential daily routine
1. Clean gently
Wash your beard 3 to 4 times a week with a specific beard shampoo, not regular hair shampoo (too harsh for facial skin). Rinse with lukewarm water.
2. Moisturize with oil
Daily application of beard oil (jojoba, argan, castor) nourishes hair and soothes skin underneath. A few drops, massaged from root to tip.
3. Brush and comb
Use a boar bristle brush or wooden comb to distribute oil, detangle and shape the beard. Daily morning brushing also stimulates the follicles.
4. Trim regularly
Even when growing a long beard, regular trim every 2-3 weeks removes split ends and maintains a clean shape.
Products to avoid
- Regular hair shampoos (too drying)
- Alcohol-based products (irritating)
- Cheap wax with petroleum derivatives
- Too-hot water (dries the skin)
Nutrition for a fuller beard
A diet rich in protein, zinc, biotin and vitamin D promotes beard growth. Eggs, nuts, fatty fish, and leafy greens are your allies.
